The Seoul of today, hypersaturated with frenetic neon signs, flashing, frenzied LCD displays and all the trappings of a modern-day metropolis, is a far cry from the city I remember as a child -- but if you look hard enough, the warmth & charm of Seoul, can still be found on the boutique laden Garosoo Road, through the winding streets of Samchung-dong, and the maze of tea houses & galleries that pepper Insa-dong. My recent trip to Korea coincided with the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009 and the start of Seoul Fashion Week, and I was admittedly blown away by the current trajectory of independent design and style in Korea.
