Railroad Revival Tour 2012
Last year, our good friend Dave Conway (Little Radio) set out to make real one of his life's dreams: The Railroad Revival Tour. After years of planning, the tour was finally launched in April 2011, with a lineup that included Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show. Fifteen vintage railcars consisting of lounges, sleepers, dining cars and one converted boxcar filled with vintage instruments were pulled by two modern Amtrak locomotives across the American Southwest. The entire "tour of dreams", spanning from San Francisco to New Orleans, was captured on film by director Emmett Malloy and the resulting documentary "Big Easy Express" premiered at the 2012 SXSW Film Festival. Buoyed by the success and acclaim of the tour, plans are already underway for the much anticipated second installment of the Railroad Revival tour. For tour updates and info, check back often, here.
